Accelerated Reader Test

Click Here to take a test. . .

Accelerated Reader (AR) is software for primary and secondary schools used for monitoring the practice of reading.  The AR software tool assesses a student's reading level, suggests titles of books at that level, and then assess whether a student has completed reading the book by asking a series of questions. The software provides information to students regarding reading rates, amount of reading, and other factors related to reading.

There are three steps to using Accelerated Reader. First, students choose and read a fiction or non-fiction book, textbook, or magazine. Teachers monitor the reading. Second, students take a quiz. Teachers can create their own quizzes. Third, the teacher receives information that is intended to assist, motivate reading, monitor progress, and target instruction. Reports regarding reading level and comprehension skills are available through the software.[1]

Accelerated Reader tests are administered only by Mr. Dekleva at the Yale Library during school hours.  Tests may be taken in the morning (from 7:15am to 8:05am), during English class (if the teacher allows) and afterschool (between 2:30pm-3:30pm).
